I've implemented a prototype of dbetabinom, pbetabinom, dbetanbinom and pbetanbinom functions. The CDF functions depends on hypergeo package so I supose it don't fit R-base.

Are you interested in add this distributions to distr package? If yes, I can try to work on the remaining function q$dist and r$dist.

yours,
Joan

Hi,
It would be nice to implement compound probability distribution in a generalized fashion but I think is to much for me.

I asked r-devel list to include beta binomial and beta negative binomial distributions to R-base and I was pointed to gamls.dist package (https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2012-March/063552.html). This package include beta binomial distribution so it should be easy to add this funcion to dist package if you think it's ok to add the dependence.

For the Beta negative binomial I think I will have to implement it but I don't know if it will be accepted in R-base. Afterwards I will try to add this function to dist package.

thanks for your interest in distr.

Up to now [March 2012] this is not implemented.

It is not difficult, though. It would take me less than say
3-4 hours (or even less), but I am rather packed at the
moment with all other sorts of things...

The starting point would be to define a new model in the
framework of our package distrMod .

To see how this can be done, there is a JSS article which is
contained as a vignette in this package.

I hope this gives you a start.

At any rate, good, that you wrote this to our mailing list;
so if time permits at a later stage, we can easily take this
up and provide some code....

Best, Peter

Hi,
I want to use beta binomial and beta negative binomial distributions. Is distr packages suitable for this? If yes, how can I start (which ?function) or where can I find some info?

Joan
