   <title>micEcon split into micEconSNQP, micEconCES, and micEcon</title>

   <description>In December, the packages &amp;quot;miscTools&amp;quot; and &amp;quot;micEconAids&amp;quot; were separated from the &amp;quot;micEcon&amp;quot; package. Now, two further packages have been separated from the micEcon package: &amp;quot;micEconSNQP&amp;quot; and &amp;quot;micEconCES&amp;quot;.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The &amp;quot;micEconSNQP&amp;quot; package (version 0.6-2) provides tools for production analysis with the Symmetric Normalized Quadratic (SNQ) profit function (also known as the &amp;quot;Generalized McFadden&amp;quot; profit function), e.g. snqProfitEst() for estimating the SNQ profit function, snqProfitCalc() for calculating the endogenous variable of the SNQ profit function, or snqProfitEla() for calculating price elasticities of the SNQ profit function.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The &amp;quot;micEconCES&amp;quot; package (version 0.6-6) provides tools for estimating the Constant Elasticity of Scale (CES) function. Function cesEst() has been tremendously improved. It can estimate the CES function using much more estimation methods (optimizers) now, e.g. the Levenberg-Marquardt or the Differential Evolution algorithm. Furthermore a &amp;quot;vignette&amp;quot; (supplementary documentation) &amp;quot;Estimating the CES Function in R: Package micEconCES&amp;quot; (written by Geraldine Henningsen and Arne Henningsen) [1] has been added.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The &amp;quot;micEcon&amp;quot; package (version 0.6-2) includes the remaining parts of the &amp;quot;old&amp;quot; micEcon package, e.g. for economic analysis with Cobb-Douglas functions, translog functions, quadratic functions, or linearly homogeneous non-parametric functions.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
All these packages are available on CRAN [2,3,4] and R-Forge [5].&lt;br /&gt;

   <title>micEcon split into miscTools, micEconAids, and micEcon</title>

   <description>The &amp;quot;micEcon&amp;quot; package has been split into three packages: miscTools, micEconAids, and micEcon.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
a) miscTools (version 0.6-0) includes miscellaneous small tools and utilities that are not related to (micro)economics, e.g. colMedians(), rowMedians(), insertCol(), insertRow(), vecli(), symMatrix(), triang(), semidefiniteness(), compPlot(), and rSquared(). The miscTools package should depend on (almost) no other packages so that it can be used in other packages without increasing the recursive dependencies of these packages.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
b) micEconAids (version 0.6-0) includes all functions and methods for demand analysis with the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) of Deaton and Muellbauer (1980). Since these functions and methods comprised a large and rather specific &amp;quot;group&amp;quot; within the &amp;quot;old&amp;quot; micEcon package, it makes sense (IMHO) to separate them into a separate package.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
c) micEcon (version 0.6-0) includes the remaining parts of the &amp;quot;old&amp;quot; micEcon package, e.g. for economic analysis with Cobb-Douglas functions, translog functions, quadratic functions, CES (constant elasticity of substitution) functions, SNQ (symmetric normalized quadratic = generalized McFadden) profit functions, or linearly homogeneous non-parametric functions.&lt;br /&gt;
